At
Springhill, wellness is more than just a goal: it's a way of life that
focuses on the physical, spiritual, emotional, social, vocational and
intellectual components of individual wellness.
To your health
Before arriving, each new resident receives a full health assessment,
enabling our staff of professionals to set a course toward the best possible
quality of life for each individual. A prevention nurse helps coordinate
outside physician care; schedules monthly health screenings; connects
residents with needed health care providers; and keeps a profile on each
resident. Springhill's medical director is on site twice a month and our
emergency alert system is manned 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Dining and nutrition
In addition to offering attractive and inviting dining rooms, appealing menu
items and a gathering place for residents, Springhill's dining program
provides for all the nutritional needs of seniors. Food needs and desires
are assessed, ensuring that each resident has an appealing and fulfilling
diet to enjoy.
Exercise and fitness
Regular classes are held at Springhill in yoga, tai chi, line dancing and
aerobics. The staff at our fitness center will be glad to help you tailor a
fitness program to suit you. On a less formal basis, residents are
encouraged to take advantage of the one-half-mile long walking trail on our
beautiful rolling campus.
Social, emotional and spiritual
Music from jazz to classical, outings to local points of interest, shopping
excursions, and lunches and dinners out keep social calendars filled at
Springhill. Book discussion groups, a board game league and three levels of
bridge promote healthy interaction among residents, while a full-size
greenhouse and annual vegetable and flower gardens provide opportunities for
exercise and good eating. Residents participate in volunteer activities at
Springhill or in the Erie community, and may attend specific
nondenominational religious services on campus.
Educational and intellectual
A full seven-day-per-week calendar of activities provides a wealth of
intellectual stimulation to residents. Trips to the Cleveland Museum, Erie
Playhouse and the Erie Philharmonic are favorites, as are on-campus cooking
and pottery classes. A well-stocked, on-campus library and computer lab,
complete with training, are always available. Timely and informative
wellness-related programs and seminars include hip and knee pain, mental
health, stress, diabetes, chronic disease and family relations. |
