A Lucky Day for Many at Annual Foundation Auction

Anticipation and spirits were high on Thursday, Sept. 15, as residents and associates took part in the 7th Annual Foundation Auction at Springhill. This year’s top prizes included a one-hour airplane ride, gold seat tickets to the Erie Otters Hockey Club and golf outings at several local clubs. The standout item was a unique part of nautical history – a piece of the 1913 rebuilt U.S. Brig Niagara. Other coveted items included paintings and photographs by local artists and a wide range of gift cards.

Springhill associate Rebecca Gianoni, was thrilled to win the plane ride, having dreamed of being a pilot or stewardess when she was a teenager.  Resident, Mrs. Rose Bordonaro, won the beautiful bird house, pictured, made by Garden Home resident, Ernest Ellis and painted by his daughter-in-law, Springhill associate Karen Ellis.

From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., participants placed their raffle tickets next to the items. At 2:30 sharp, the capacity crowd watched as the drawings began. Said Carol Eller, director of development for Springhill: “The anticipation is as much fun as winning, and even those who don’t win anything enjoy knowing that their money went toward our Woodlands Memory Support Neighborhood.”
